Frequently Asked Questions
Q. HELP! I SUCK.. HOW CAN I GET BETTER?
A. Honestly since tekken went combo crazy in 6, Learning and perfecting combos is probably the main priority behind knowing the move list. I would say dedicate a good chunk of time during your next practice session to just doing combos. Besides that I would say just keep getting XP with [your character] as that is the best way to get better with [them]. Each character deals with [your character] and [their] mix ups differently so just playing will improve your game.
After you work on combos I would suggest working on movement. That goes for a lot of you guys new or old to tekken. I don't think anyone here has perfected that aspect of the game so It's worth practicing. You don't have to back dash like a Korean but moving in and out of attack ranges is up there with combo execution and match up knowledge, IMO.
Oh and one last general rule for everyone: DON'T FORGET THE BASICS!!!!! Sometimes people forget they have access to throws that have stupid range and stop moves from coming out, or simple jabs, or D+4's. These are easy to use tools that are at the players disposal. People often try to get to complex with their game plan and forget 3d fighters come down to lows, throws, and mids. Its ok to run up throw, or low jab , or spam 1,2 when you are in a bind. Remember the basics of 3d fighters!! Often times simplicity is the best option.
Q. I KEEP LOSING TO __________ (character) - HELP!
A. Start messing around with all the characters to at least learn their strings. A lot of the trickier strings can be delayed during the animations. I got destroyed by Jun and Zafina's online because I just didn't know how to block or when to attack against their strings so I took like 1 hour to learn their moves and animation. Now I can put up a better fight against most of them online and the ones I fought in [person] as well. Your chances of winning is a lot better if you have some knowledge of all the characters in the game.
Q. I HAVE AMAZING JUGGLES BUT I CAN NEVER LAUNCH PEOPLE AND I DIE.. HELP! :(
Learning combos is great and all but getting that first hit to start the combo is a lot harder than you think when going up against a solid player. I think some of you guys need to work on a game plan that won't rely on only juggles to win...just slowly chip them to death using pokes/mixups....
